Gold, Silver and Bronze for Cuchulainn CC at Masters National Championships

A great set of results over the weekend of 23rd and 24th August saw Cuchulainn Cycling Club members take Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the National Masters Championships organised by Emyvale Cycling Club.

Jimmy Flynn, competing on Saturday in the M65 Masters National TimeTrial finished in third place in a race that saw all three podium finishers separated by 4 seconds only. He was to improve on that podium position on Sunday when he took an impressive 2nd place in the Road Race.

There was disappointment for club member Liam Dolan in his road race category. Liam was part of a two man breakaway who spent most of the day leading the race only to be swept up by a fast finishing peloton 200 metres from the finish.

The best result of the weekend went to Ciara Kinch who was crowned M50 Women’s Masters National Champion in the Road Races section. Ciara didn’t have it easy though as a tough group of competitors made her work hard on what proved to be quite a hilly course at the Co. Monaghan venue.

Cuchulainn CC celebrates its 90th birthday in 2025 and is delighted to have another three national medals to add to its members’ palmarès
